Do-It-Yourself Ergonomics Training

If your employees aren't working at your full potential, then your business can't grow to its full potential either.

This clip was taken from the actual 24 minute training video.

DISMISS MESSAGE

If You've EVER Said...

  • "...you know, I'm not sure if everything is OK with my staff. We've never moved forward with anything related to ergonomics before because we thought we couldn't afford expert advice."
  • "...I've asked myself at least a dozen times this year if I've done all I can do to prevent a workplace injury... the answer is sadly no."
  • "...I'm worried about what would happen if one of my employees files a Workers' Compensation claim. I've heard the costs of this as well as managing 'extra' things can quickly add up."

THERE HAS NEVER BEEN A BETTER TIME TO INVEST IN ERGONOMICS.

Why? Well. First of all, there's a HUGE Cost associated with injury.

  • OSHA provided this list of actual direct costs for the most common ergonomic injuries: Carpal Tunnel Syndrome ($28,657), Sprain ($28,338), Strain ($32,319). On average, indirect costs are higher.
  • Back symptoms are among the top ten reasons for medical visits. For 5% to 10% of patients, the back pain becomes chronic. Physical Therapy, Massage Therapy and Chiropractor visits can cost upwards of $100 for just ONE session. Sprains and strains account for nearly 70 million physician office visits in the United States annually, and an estimated 130 million total health care encounters including outpatient, hospital, and emergency room visits.

You run a busy business, you work hard to attract and keep the best employees. Heck, you even go the extra mile to make work really fun! But something doesn't quite seem right lately.
Have You Ever:
  • Felt concerned about discomfort at work?
  • Noticed some of your employees are not as engaged as they once were.
  • Heard whispers that your most talented have started looking elsewhere for other jobs.
  • Felt concerned that one Workers' Compensation claim could really strain your business.
After reading that, how much of it sounds familiar?

It's not JUST the Direct Costs. The HIDDEN (or indirect) Costs are the REAL costs of injuries.

Let's talk about those 'Hidden' costs of injury.

  • There are hidden costs related to poor ergonomics. These include absenteeism, staff replacement & retraining, and productivity issues. The costs can be significant - especially when you consider work related aches & pains can take on average, 8 days from work.
  • On top of this, morale can suffer which can cause 'burn-out' and further reduce productivity and ultimately erode buy-in within your culture.

But Wait... There IS A SOLUTION!

  • Today, industry leaders are taking small, simple steps to reduce aches, pains, and discomfort of their workforce before the first signs of injury because they know it pays dividends both on employee engagement and operating costs.

  • These companies are finding that by putting in place simple ergonomics training programs, that it's preventing injuries, decreasing Workers' Compensation fees, and retaining valuable staff.
  • Research has proven that providing ergonomic skills, in the form of training, allows individuals to make appropriate workstation changes, thus reducing the musculoskeletal risks and discomfort associated with computer work.

  • ERGONOMICS is best described as the FIT between people and the equipment they need to get work done.
  • If ignored, a poor ergonomic setup can be the catalyst to not only Pain & Workers' Compensation costs but also can lead to staff who lack initiative, enthusiasm and are distracted and complain while at work.
  • There's simple steps that you can take TODAY to reduce costs and enhance productivity!

Imagine you could provide a proven system to reduce the risk of work-related pain.

INTRODUCING...

Master Your Ergonomics: Do-It-Yourself training

A self-directed ergonomic training video that targets pain and discomfort using my proprietary process.

Prevention

As the saying goes: "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure". We give you our easy-to-understand strategy that teaches you EXACTLY how to adjust your computer workstation to fit you based on the exact equipment you already own (no need to buy fancy new equipment).

Profitability

Proper office ergonomics reduces the incidence of workplace injury and all the direct and indirect costs that go into managing this. This translates into reduced insurance claims, reduced treatment costs, reduced productivity loss... and at the end of the day this means having a more profitable business!

Performance

It's no secret that effective ergonomics programs helps to attract & retain the best employees. In fact, research has indicated that by up-leveling workstation ergonomics, improvements can be observed in: turnover, morale, time lost due to medical visits, productivity, work quality, and absenteeism.

A Different Approach to Training

Computer based training in often boring, dry and is dreaded by employees. This training is far from that. The video is composed of music,  visuals, and animated demonstrations to keep learners engaged and entertained throughout the training.

Expert Advice

Darcie Jaremey BScK, MSc, is a Board Certified Professional Ergonomist and developed this training based on her experience doing ergonomic assessments for more than a decade. By leveraging this, Darcie found that for the vast majority of cases she consulted on, significant improvement was generated simply by adjusting the equipment that the employee ALREADY had. The emphasis of this training is about adjusting what you already have to fit you instead of buying anything new. Darcie shares her secret step-by-step strategy of how to exactly improve workstation ergonomics.

INSIDE THE 'DO-IT-YOURSELF ERGONOMICS' TRAINING, YOU'LL GAIN:

  • Piece of mind knowing that every workstation in your business (whether it's just you or you and your team) has been adjusted to fit each unique person and that reduces their exposure to ergonomic risk. Less ergonomic risk means less likelihood of injury!
  • In-depth yet fun and lively video that entices employees to finish and apply the strategies to their chair, mouse, keyboard and monitor to suit them.

  • A method to address the ergonomic setup of all employees instead of using expensive consultants for Every. Single. Employee (consultants can cost upwards of $1,000 for just one assessment).

  • Training that is aligned with your pre-existing health and safety initiatives (including OSHA), wellness programs.

Hi, I'm Darcie

First things first - I'm a Board Certified Professional Ergonomist with a Masters of Science Degree in Ergonomics. [Now that's out of the way...] Over the past 10+ years I've done thousands of ergonomic assessments. In that time I started to notice these trends:

  • I usually consulted only after pain symptoms were reported.
  • I noticed that even though the majority of office workers were exposed to ergonomic risk by a poor ergonomic setup, only a small percentage ever received an ergonomic assessment - time and cost were listed as perceived barriers.
  • In the majority of assessments that I did, a re-adjustment of the equipment that they already had to fit them better was all that was required.

This is why I'm so passionate about this training. As they say 'an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure' and showing individuals how to prevent pain and injury from developing in the first place has an incredible amount of value in both their lives and the performance of the business.

Here's what our students are saying about the Do-It-Yourself Ergonomics Training:

"After the training video I found out that my monitor, chair, and keyboard needs to be adjusted. There were great tips in the training video and I made all the adjustments myself. Absolutely I would recommend this training!"

"The changes I made after the training video were that the seat and back support went up, monitors moved closer, need footrest, need to possibly remove armrests. After the video I now know what to pay attention to and how to make changes. I would recommend this training because I though it was very helpful to make me more aware of how I should be sitting."

"I changed the tilt of my monitor and adjusted my chair after the video. I ABSOLUTELY know what to do to change my workstation - the video was very detailed and informative! I would definitely recommend this, it's easy to follow and allows you to do it yourself and at minimal cost!"

"I changed my mouse to the left along with my seat position and monitor height. The video gave me many ideas for things to adjust. Everyone should have access to this video. Future health promotion is important for everyone. "

"This training allows others to make adjustments to their workstation that may not have access to an ergonomist at their place of employment!"

"I would recommend this training video. It was very informative! "

"After watching the video I realized that my monitors were completely too high! I lowered them after I watched the video and it immediately feels better to me. "

"I was so surprised by how many great tips were packed into Darcie's video on setting up my office properly. I have had pain in my neck for so long that I was beginning to believe that this was my new normal. I only had to make a few small tweaks and have already noticed a huge difference in my pain level. Thank you Darcie- I am so very glad I found you!!"

Compare the Do-It-Yourself Ergonomics training program to...

Of course there are many ways to incorporate a 'healthier way to sit', here's how this program stacks up against the competition.

  • Compare Do-It-Yourself Ergonomics to the price to bring in outside consultants to perform a full office ergonomic assessment for every employee. This can be quite costly, especially when you consider that this can cost between $250-$1,000 for every single assessment.
  • Compare Do-It-Yourself Ergonomics to the price of not doing anything and just ignoring your problem. OSHA has listed the direct costs of a work-related strain to be $32,319, with indirect costs being higher.
  • Compare Do-It-Yourself Ergonomics to letting your staff 'trying it yourself' where they search the internet to come up with their own 'best' guess of how their workstations should be setup for you and let your employees figure it out themselves.
  • Compare Do-It-Yourself to the cost of replacing talented employees who have left your business instead of retaining them.

There IS a Solution... Aligned with Health, Safety, & Wellness Strategies.

Do-It-Yourself Ergonomics uses our online training system to address the ergonomics of all staff. Compare this with the past, where Consultant Fees and Service Access prevented many businesses from taking the necessary steps to prevent injuries.

With Do-It-Yourself Ergonomics, you can change your focus from dealing with injury/finding quality hires... to building a business of your dreams!!

Do-It-Yourself Ergonomics is aligned with current scientific findings and international standards, including the Canadian Standards Association’s CSA Z412-17: Guideline on Office Ergonomics.
